When people needed to count over ten, Euclid simply combined the number sounds related with his fingers. So our modern number eleven is simply a form of a teutonic ein-lifon. Since those first number sounds were created, people have only five new basic number-sounds to the ten original number-sounds. So, if god had given men thirteen toes instead of ten our number system would have been much different.
